DISCOVERING THE STORIES BEHIND THE DESTINATIONS

Hi, I’m Melody, a New Jersey–based freelance travel writer with a passion for discovering the history, culture, and human stories that make a destination unforgettable.

I’m especially drawn to romantic escapes, solo adventures, historic inns, hidden gems, and European bookshops and cafés—the kinds of places that invite you to slow down and stay a little longer. When I’m not traveling or writing about my latest discovery, I’m working on my young adult fantasy novel.

Behind the blog

How it all started

My first flight was to France at age 17, and from the moment I arrived, I was hooked on travel. In college, I discovered air-courier flights to Europe and learned the art of packing a small bag, grabbing a guidebook, and heading off to explore a foreign city.

That sense of adventure eventually led to jobs at Walt Disney World, South Seas Plantation on Captiva Island, Florida, and Club Med Eleuthera in the Bahamas, where I worked as a G.O.

Later, while working full time as an IT specialist for the Federal Aviation Administration, I began turning my love of travel into stories. My articles appeared in publications including AAA Going Places, the Miami Herald, and Explore, the inflight magazine for TACA Airlines.

Years later, I’m still happiest discovering a place I’ve never been, meeting the people who give it character, and finding the stories that make a destination memorable—and then sharing those discoveries with fellow travelers.

FAQ

Oh, wow… tough choice! Right now, I’d say Poland, Portugal, England, and Scotland.

Quite honestly, I couldn’t pick just one! I fly American Airlines the most because they have a hub at my local airport, but my most recent trip—from Newark to London on United—was an A+ experience!

Ever since I realized I wanted to combine my love of travel with my love of writing—and I’ve enjoyed sharing my adventures with fellow travelers!

Not quite yet—but it’s in the works! Stay tuned.

I’d love to work with destinations, travel brands, and tourism partners in the future—watch this space!
